Riverwood’s Mobile Education and Outreach program is a horse trailer which has been completely renovated to look like the inside of the barn, carry 2 miniature horses and house interactive and educational activities for children and adults. It was established in 2014 to provide customized mobile services to clients who are unable to visit Riverwood’s farm location. Additionally, the outreach trailer provides education and awareness to the general public about equine assisted activities, disabilities, and horse care. The MEO truly allows Riverwood to take our services out into the community by mobilizing our programs, and in turn making Riverwood’s impact virtually limitless
Common MEO visits to special populations include those to local schools, hospice, youth groups, community events, camps and more! The MEO also grants Riverwood the potential to make “horse calls” to individuals who are home bound or hospital bound and in need of emotional support. Furthermore, the MEO is an essential element in helping Riverwood accomplish our educational goal to share the benefits of equine assisted activities. Promoting ability rather than disability is one of our primary objectives in education. If you are interested in scheduling an MEO program with Riverwood or having the trailer at your community event, contact our office at firstname.lastname@example.org or (336) 922-6426.
